Begin your Journey in Theatre-Based Medical Sales

Thank you for your interest. Before we move to the next stage, it is vital that you understand the unique demands of this role

This career path varies by portfolio. Orthopaedics is not a 9-to-5 job — it can involve 06:30 AM starts and trauma callouts. While Consumables or Elective roles offer more 'normal' hours with planned cases, every medical device role requires high-level technical expertise in the operating room.

Step 1: Medical Device Sales: The Reality Check

Read carefully before applying. This is a high-stakes clinical partnership, not a 9-to-5 desk job.

    • Clinical Confidence: You cannot be shy. You must be able to walk into a theatre and speak to a surgeon clearly and to the point, even if you’ve never met them.
    • The Technical Consultant: You provide real-time advice mid-procedure. You must not hold back—surgeons rely on your expert direction.
    • Theater-Ready: Often starting at 06:30 AM to prep surgical kits.
    • Physical Grit: Hours on your feet in a cold OR, often wearing a 5kg lead apron.
    • Trauma & On-Call: Orthopedics isn't 9-to-5. Expect 2:00 AM emergency calls, weekends, and holidays. (Elective Theatre Cases/Consumable Sales roles have more "normal" hours).
    • The Closer: Beyond the clinical side, you are there to grow the business. You must be comfortable asking for the business and closing the sale.
    • Road Warrior: You’ll live out of your car, managing inventory and navigating traffic to ensure zero patient delays.
